Different types of rail bikes

Rail bikes are lightweight carts or lorries propelled by passenger muscle power using pedals.
They have two driving positions, each equipped with a brake. Two to three passengers can sit in the rear. These vehicles are rented out to the public and are therefore largely under their own responsibility. Users appreciate the autonomy they provide for travelling on rail tracks.

Rail bikes currently operate on standard-gauge, metre-gauge and 60-gauge networks.
All rail bikes in France have been produced recently and comply with manufacturing rules defined by STRMTG.

Since 2005, in order to operate rail bikes, the rolling stock must be approved by STRMTG.
