Mountain resort conveyor belts are used to transport standing passengers on a continuous or modular belt driven by a motor.

Description of mountain resort conveyor belts

These systems are very popular with beginner skiers, and are often made available to nursery slope customers (at the base of ski slopes in front of buildings), ski schools and kindergartens.

Mountain resort conveyor belts consist of:

  • a departure station located at the bottom, which provides the snow/belt connection and generally ensures conveyor belt tension
  • a track made up of a variable number of metal structural elements supporting the belt
  • a station located at the top which provides the belt/snow connection and drives the belt with an electric motor.

The conveyor belt is also equipped with safety devices that monitor operations and immediately stop the belt if an anomaly occurs.

These devices require the same level of safety as ropeway installations.

Belt speed varies depending on the conveyor belt model, generally 0.7m/s, but can be as high as 1.2m/s for high speed conveyor belts
