Technical guide for the installation of fixed objects near tramway / road intersections

There are hundreds of collisions between light vehicles and trams at intersections every year on French tramway networks.

In particular, when an object is located directly downstream of the intersection in relation to the tram’s direction of travel, the light vehicle may be crushed between the tram and the object.

This has already happened several times and has often led to very serious injuries and even death.

This version n°3 of this guide has been updated in July 2021. It takes into account feedbacks from applications of the last version, and includes new topics (new drawings of fixed object-free zone, platform edge…).
