Technical regulations for aerial ropeways, ski-tows and funicular railways.
Since the entry into force of Directive 2000/9/EC, since replaced by Regulation (EU) 2016/424, Member States no longer have the right to impose national technical rules for the placing on the market of cableway installation safety components and subsystems.
In terms of technical rules, their area of subsidiarity is limited to:
- the general design of the installations (speed, capacity, distance between vehicles and ground, line calculation, etc.) and their infrastructure (the limits of which are specified in the safety analysis).
- regulations applicable to the installation once it is open to the public (operation, maintenance, rescue, modifications, etc.).
