Standards/Reference documents
STRMTG-ON assesses product conformity according to Regulation (EU) 2016/424 and associated standards.
Regulation (EU) 2016/424
European Regulation (EU) 2016/424 of 9 March 2016 on cableway installations, repealing Directive 2000/9/EC, has been fully applicable since 21 April 2018.
This regulation is an extension of the directive.
It lays down rules for placing safety subsystems and components for cableway installations on the market and their free movement. It also contains rules for the design, construction and entry into service of new cableway installations.
It applies to new cableway installations intended to carry persons, to modifications of cableway installations requiring a new authorisation and to subsystems and safety components for cableway installations.
Harmonised standards
The application of harmonised standards is a way to demonstrate compliance with the essential requirements of the regulation.
However, compliance of safety components or subsystems with essential requirements can also be demonstrated using other specific evidence (safety studies, other standards, tests, etc.).
Harmonised standards are not mandatory.
Conformity with harmonised standards implies the presumption of compliance with the essential requirements, but non-compliance with a standard does not imply non-compliance with a requirement if additional evidence is provided.
